I wish we could call this an age old debate but that quite frankly would be a lie. The battle between a fiberglass composite shell and a wooden built trailer is one sided. A one piece foam core shell not only gives you the obvious weatherproof advantages but it insulates, sound deadens and weighs less! I know what you’re thinking, well why isn’t everyone doing it? Well to put it quite simply, the molding process is very time consuming and very expensive!

Imagine completely eliminating the possibility of wood rot? Imagine being able to park you trailer in a snow/rain storm and not worry about leaks over time. Having a one piece fiberglass hull allows you that peace of mind. There is a reason why fiberglass boats have been in the water for 50 years! Below are links to video clips comparing the pros and cons of both materials. Although we do use wood for cabinets and trim work, the wood never sees the external elements! It is nestled in between 1.25” of composite!
